Strip the names off it and this is the oldest shape in dynasty: one side buys the best player in the deal, the other side buys time. Randle is the only piece here who moves a weekly scoreboard on his own. Everything goochshot got back is either a rotation body or a lottery ticket that does not get scratched off for three seasons. Da League is in its pre-draft window for Season 3, which matters more than it sounds, because a 2029 first is being valued right now at the moment of the year when draft capital feels most exciting and least tested. That is the exact condition under which teams overpay for picks and under which the team collecting picks looks smartest.

Shep and Co. turned a productive but aging power forward into four assets, and none of the four require them to win anything soon. That is the whole case, and it is a strong one.

Randle is the kind of player who inflates a good roster and does very little for a bad one. He puts up counting stats every week. He does not fix a timeline. If goochshot looked at their roster in the pre-draft window and concluded they were not the second-best team in this league, then holding Randle for another season is just collecting a nicer-looking loss. Selling him for real capital before the decline shows up in the box score is the correct process call, and process is how you grade a trade before the results exist.

The 2029 first is the piece. Three drafts out, from a team that is currently trying to win, is the version of a future pick you actually want. If brodiedean8's push works, the pick lands late and goochshot still holds a first. If it does not work, goochshot owns a high pick in a class nobody can scout yet, which is precisely when picks are cheapest to acquire and most valuable to own. The third is a throw-in, but throw-ins are free, and in a dynasty league of this size a third rounder is still a body with a pulse.

The two players are the part where I will not pretend to know more than I do. Davion Mitchell is a defense-first guard whose fantasy value has always been capped by what he does with the ball, and Moussa Diabaté is a young center whose entire value proposition is minutes he has not consistently been handed. Either one could be a useful piece. Neither is a reason to make this trade. If goochshot is telling themselves the players matter here, they are grading their own homework. The picks are the return.

Why not an A. goochshot also gave up Isaiah Collier, a young guard with a real path to volume, and that is the piece I would have fought to keep. Selling the veteran is right. Attaching a young guard with upside to get the deal across the line is the part that could look expensive in 2028. Still a strong sell.

HeHateMe bought the best player in the trade and gave up nothing they need this season. That is a defensible room. Randle immediately raises their floor, and floor is what a team hunting a title actually needs. If the plan is to win in the next two seasons, a 2029 first is not an asset, it is a rounding error. You cannot start a 2029 pick at power forward.

The Collier add is the smart part, and it is the reason this grade is a B and not a C. brodiedean8 did not just chase the veteran, they attached a young guard to make sure they were not paying only in draft capital, which is the cheaper currency for a contender. Getting Collier back alongside Randle means they kept a piece of the future while cashing in on the present. That is a GM doing the reading.

The problem is the price of admission. Two picks plus a starting-caliber young center in Diabaté plus Davion Mitchell is a real stack of stuff for a player whose best seasons are behind him rather than ahead. Randle's fantasy value rests on volume, and volume rests on availability, which has not always been a given. If he misses stretches, brodiedean8 has paid a first for a part-time upgrade and thinned their bench doing it.

What I cannot know: how close brodiedean8 actually is. If they are a legitimate top-two roster, this is an A- on their side too and the 2029 first is correctly treated as monopoly money. If they are fourth or fifth and talking themselves into a run, they just funded a rival's rebuild for a marginal seed improvement. Nothing in the deal itself tells me which.

goochshot won this, but not by a landslide. Call it a clear win, not a fleecing. They converted a declining veteran into a 2029 first from a team betting on itself, plus a third, plus two players who might stick, and they did it while the market for picks is warm. brodiedean8 did not get robbed. They got the best player, they protected themselves by pulling Collier back, and they paid in a currency that only hurts if their window closes early. The verdict comes down to a single question neither grade can settle yet: whether HeHateMe is actually good enough to make that 2029 first worthless. If they are, this is close to even. If they are not, goochshot walks away with the only asset in the deal that still matters in three years.
